I'm an assistant professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where I lead a research group studying deep learning. My lab focuses on goal-driven image understanding and lifelong learning. I am also associate director of RIT's Center for Human Aware Artificial Intelligence (CHAI).
Previously, I worked at NASA JPL, where I worked on perception systems for autonomous robots. Besides machine learning and computer vision, I have a background in theoretical neuroscience, cognitive modeling, and eye tracking.
I received my PhD from UC San Diego.
